WWF Nepal Memorial Scholarships

On September 23, 2006, Nepal lost some of its finest conservationists in a tragic helicopter accident in Ghunsa, Taplejung. They were prominent conservation personalities with decades of experience battling conservation challenges in Nepal and outside. September 23 is now celebrated as the National Conservation Day in Nepal each year.

To honor the 24 individuals lost in the tragic helicopter incident and their commitment to preserving Nepal’s rich natural heritage, WWF established the Memorial Scholarship fund that will assist students who wish to pursue careers in conservation. Recognizing the tremendous loss of leadership in conservation, through this fund WWF will help build a new generation of conservation leaders to ensure the future of nature conservation in Nepal.
