WWF Nepal and ICIMOD embark on five-year partnership
WWF Nepal and ICIMOD recognize the need for a common approach and methodology for joint research, technology transfer, capacity building, and exchange of information in pursuit of these common goals. The prioritized areas of collaboration will be based on areas of mutual interest such as ecosystem services, tourism and urbanization, poverty reduction, regional cooperation.
At the event, Dr. Pema Gyamtsho, Director General, ICIMOD, highlighted the importance of encouraging collaboration and creating synergy between likeminded institutions to reduce threats to biodiversity, tackle climate change related disasters and provide livelihood support to communities.
Dr. Ghana Shyam Gurung, Country Representative, WWF Nepal added, "This agreement has opened up avenues for further collaboration in addressing climate change related disasters, scaling up transboundary level conservation and achieving overall conservation goals."
