The Kangchenjunga Conservation Area (KCA) is a region rich in diversity of flora and fauna. The government of Nepal declared the Kangchenjunga region a “Gift to Earth” by the people of Nepal to the global population in 1997. KCA is one of the prime habitats of the Snow leopard. However, it is also home to a variety of other wild species including grey wolf, common leopard and brown bear.
This book features 17 different species of wild mammals captured during systematic camera trap surveys conducted between 2015 to 2017. For each species, information of their capture, scientific, English and Nepali names, conservation status, spatial and activity patterns were included. This book is aimed to provide a baseline information and would be useful to researchers, students, and anybody interested in KCA’s alpine habitat and wildlife. Any feedbacks on the book will be highly appreciated.
