Nisarga Batika School & Nightingale International Secondary School to represent Nepal in Asia’s biggest wildlife quiz!
Kathmandu, Nepal – Nisarga Batika School’s Anushna Gautam and Nightingale International Secondary School’s Saurya Shrestha, emerged proud winners of the Nepal edition of Wild Wisdom Quiz (WWQ) 2020, hosted digitally due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The winners will now go on to represent their school, and country, in the international finale of Asia’s biggest wildlife quiz.
A total of 100 students from 46 schools across Nepal participated in the digital edition of WWQ Nepal. Themed, ‘Reimagining Our Planet”, students were quizzed on the popular Netflix series, “Our Planet”. The quiz is aimed at raising awareness on biodiversity and wildlife conservation among the younger generation, through participatory and interactive means.

Saurya Shrestha and Anushna Gautam, the winners of the national competition from Nightingale International Secondary School and Nisarga Batika School said, “We are really excited about our win, even though it was a lot tougher due to the digital avatar, but we will try our best to make you all proud in the international finale.”
Talking about the Wild Wisdom Quiz, Dr Ghana S Gurung, Country Representative, WWF Nepal said, “The Wild Wisdom Quiz was first introduced as a collaborative and immersive learning experience for school children, to garner an interest in biodiversity conservation. It is heartening to see young students compete for the title.”
Now in its fourth edition, WWF Nepal initially introduced Wild Wisdom Quiz (WWQ) in 2017 reaching out to 104 schools in Kathmandu Valley. Wild Wisdom Quiz was initiated by WWF India in 2008. Now, in its twelfth year, the quiz has grown to become Asia’s biggest quiz on wildlife.

Initiated by WWF-India in 2008 as a modest initiative, Wild Wisdom Quiz (WWQ) today has become Asia’s biggest quiz on wildlife, reaching out to more than 250 cities with a participation of 800+ schools. Wild Wisdom Quiz was introduced in Nepal on 5 June 2017, to sensitize students about Nepal’s rich biodiversity and natural heritage. The Quiz is an ideal platform to reach out to young minds and embed the seeds of environment conservation through a fun filled and interactive learning experience.
